Literacy is a human right, a tool of personal empowerment and a means for social and human development.
Emerging technologies and digital platforms have given us new frontiers on which to assert these rights. However, technology comes with its own limitations. Learners are unable to take advantage of the unprecedented opportunities afforded to them in the digital age if they are not encouraged to build on their current literacies and embrace their role as digital citizens.
Students are notoriously savvy Web users. It isn’t hard for them to find “answers” to their questions, but few students can find thorough answers from credible sources and use this information effectively.
To level the playing field for all, a focus on digital literacy is imperative and is central to the future of every human being.
This course will arm you with evidence and give you lessons and resources to work with your students to help them reimagine and improve their literacy.
