The process for creating the example project using Microsoft® Word 2010 is described below. The Completed Project Movie shows what the finished product might look like. The tutorial movies that follow demonstrate, step-by-step, how to construct the Extra, Extra! newsletter using the sample articles provided in the downloadable resource packet. This project can be easily modified or adapted for creating document templates for newsletters, reports, or presentations about other subjects currently under study. Creating Your Own Project
We will begin by creating a new document in Microsoft Word. We will create and format some graphic WordArt for the title of our newsletter, add a horizontal line, and text for the date of the newsletter. Then we'll change the body of the newsletter so that the article text will be in two columns. Since all of these things will remain the same from one newsletter to the next, we'll save our work as a document template that can be reused. We'll modify the template to contain articles about the current events going on in the classroom, before saving and printing a copy of the current newsletter.
