Fraction Action
Application: iStopMotion 1.81
Platform: Mac

Description

The process for creating the example Fraction Action animation using Boinx ® iStopMotion is described below. The Completed Project Movie shows what the finished product might look like. The tutorial movies that follow demonstrate, step-by-step, how to create the animation movie, using either a digital movie camera or a digital still camera. This project can be easily modified or adapted to demonstrate what a student has learned about a subject or concept, through the unique format of stop-animation. For a complete project description, including goals, objectives, and materials, see the Project Overview.

Creating Your Own Project
We will begin by opening a new iStopMotion movie file and editing the movie settings. We'll learn how to use a digital movie camera to capture frames for our movie. We'll also learn how to import images from a digital still camera or from iPhoto. We'll be using some basic editing techniques, such as copying and pasting, to create our movie, and we'll also learn how to use some special techniques, such as "onion skinning" and "blinking" to make the editing process a little easier. Then we'll preview our movie and export the final animation as a QuickTime movie for others to view.
